MADON FOUNDATION was born with deep commitment to humanitarianism. Madon foundation started as a mere passion to help people in all aspect of life from education, health, sports, organising workshops and providing talented students with necessary ICT skills but careful analysis and evaluation done on the few projects revealed that Madon foundation will be doing a lot of people good by having a continuity of these little help rendered here and there.
EDUCATION
The Foundation is an initiative of Madon Consult which set its sights on Kojo Kuma in 2018. What we found was a community rich in spirit but lacking in resources, where children studied under the shade of trees and clean water was a luxury.
Determined to make a difference, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We built temporary classrooms, provided desks for eager young minds, and drilled a borehole to quench the thirst of generations. It was a start, a glimmer of hope in a sea of uncertainty.
Madon Foundation has teamed up with GCUE’s worldwide education projects, educational agencies and communities to maximize their strengths and support the needs of the community.
GCUE’s worldwide education projects include building schools, improving infrastructure and addressing needs of at-risk students. GCUE cherishes diversity in all areas (e.g. age, faith, race, disciplines, etc.). Education project volunteers worldwide learn to cherish diversity through their involvement with their worldwide education projects.”
In 2018 Global Community Uniting for Equity visited Achiase Kojo Kuma community in the Ayensuano Constituency as lead by Madon foundation to set up an educational structure for the community to aid and strengthen their needs in terms of proper education under the supervision of Hon Suzei Mensah and Hon Samuel Ayeh-Paye. The project was strongly supported by Hon. Eugene Sackey the District Chief Executive for the Upper West Akim District Assembly. Madon Foundation seeks to revisit and improve on the school project built in 2018. Our mission is simply to help to improve the livelihood of the people in Ayensuano Constituency.
Education shows us the importance of hard work and, at the same time, helps us grow and develop, we have a lot of rural communities lacking basic education amenities just like the people of Kojo Kuma, Madon Foundation has cited a lot of schools in these areas that needs support, we will be like to seek for financial assistance in order to help these rural folks with good educational facilities.
SPORTS FOR ALL
The importance of Sports in any school curriculum is well known and documented. However the financial constraints on state/public schools has resulted in the virtual absence of sports and physical training in the state/public schools.
Madon Foundation has started the Sports For All project with football. Many young men have benefited from the free football training sessions and activities organized by Madon foundation. The specialised football training included Media training and essential welfare advice which was held in the Central Region, Winneba College of Education Campus. During the project we had young people from Junior/Senior High schools as well as the Tertiary level engaging in the project. Feedback we got at the end of the program was heartwarming and fulfilling, it made us understand that the youth wish to have the needed support in order to excel in the Sporting field. We need financial support to enable us provide consistent support to these young and vibrant youth. The sports does not only involve football but other sports like Basketball, Badminton Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Cricket, Handball, Swimming, Rugby, Hockey, Tennis, Netball and Volleyball. This project which was intended to be a one-time thing but the various mails and messages that kept coming our way made us to seek assistance to make the dream of these youth a fruitful one.
Madon Foundation has been championing the link between sports and education right up to the university level. This Inclusive Sports Initiative will include girls and sports for the disabled .
ICT
In today’s technology controlled world, ICT training is a basic requirement that many school children and youth in Ghana are being denied. Madon Foundation has already introduced ICT training into some schools like La Bawaleshie Presbyterian School in Greater Accra Region, computer equipment has been donated to these schools to enable the practical aspects of the training to be carried out. Madon Foundation Intends to upgrade the ICT equipment that is currently in use in these schools and acquire new equipment and that will enable us to introduce ICT training into as many schools as possible. This will involve the opening of Madon Foundation computer labs in schools. We also intend to set up a mobile ICT Teaching Unit in the rural areas that will visit schools.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
In a male dominated society such as Ghana it’s extra difficult for women to achieve their life goals without great difficulty. Madon Foundation has been holding Women’s Empowerment workshops and training events that have helped many women get on track to achieving their objectives, most of these workshops were held in Accra and a few in the rural areas where some monetary support were given at the end of the workshops. Most of these women who attended the workshops are doing well in their respective fields of businesses, an indication of the fact that the workshops was effective and efficient. Rendering consistent support to women to excel in their respective careers will help empower more women hence bridging the gender inequality gap. It is our goal to open permanent centers that will specifically target women’s needs on the 24/7/365 basis. These centers will be run by women for women.
Youth Skills and Employment Training
The world wide high youth unemployment is even more acute in Ghana. Many young people have already benefited from the Madon Consult Skills Training workshops specifically for the youth (18-35 year-olds). The Skills Training Workshops were specifically designed to help the employed to upskill and the unemployed with the view to creating employment for themselves.
In view of the fact that many of the trainees are from very poor backgrounds, their financial limitations prevent them from starting their own business. Madon Foundation would therefore like to introduce cost effective start-up funding initiatives that will help the trainees to start their own business after training.
SKILLS TRAINING FOR DISABLED PEOPLE
There is no single group that are marginalized more than the people with disabilities which may range from physical to visual and hearing impairment. For the majority of these people self employment is the only real sustainable way of earning an income.
Madon Consult has been holding Skills Training Workshops and events to teach, motivate and encourage the disabled to become proactive in their acquisition of skills that may be used to create employment for themselves.
We intend to continue these activities with the addition of a cost effective start-up funding initiative that will help the trainees to start their own business after training. This will enable them to stop begging by the dangerous roadsides as their only source of income.
MISSION STATEMENT
MADON Foundation is an organisation based in Ghana, focusing on giving rural folks quality education and health, while ICT, Sports for all, Youth Skills and Employment training (people with disability inclusive) and Women Empowerment for both the urban and rural areas. We assist children through basic education to tertiary/vocational levels, helping expectant mothers by providing good antenatal/maternal care, giving aid to families with kids with special needs(Autistic) and providing borehole facilities for clean water as illegal mining activities is destroying the water bodies on which these rural folks depend on for drinking, cooking, laundry etc.
Provision of quality education and health has always been on the minimal, educational(classrooms, books and teachers) and health(clinics, medication and medical staff) facilities are some of the major infrastructures lacking in the rural community. MADON foundation is here to serve the rural community to have access to good and quality healthcare as well as education. With the provision of good healthcare especially antenatal care in order to curb maternal mortality in rural areas. With the provision of good educational infrastructures children in the rural communities will gain high confidence level and will be able to fit into the global job market as a whole. The world is far advancing when it comes to ICT, at MADON foundation we believe integrating digital education in the learning process as this is the future hence assisting children in the public schools to learn coding on vacations has become a norm for us. Facilitating a few workshops on employable skills for youth has been carried out to make them ready for the global market, training of women in beadmaking, fascinators, soap making, brewing of local drinks and managing of SMEs are few projects we have also carried out.
We believe by doing this corporate/government institutions and The International Community will follow to do more for these individuals and community by extension.
